Admissions Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Entering 9th or 10th grader with strong academic standing with a 3.0 GPA or better
  • Completion of geometry or Algebra 2 with a grade of "B" or better; or Algebra 1 with an      "A" or better
  • Proficient or advanced scores on the California Standards Tests (CSTs) in both English      Language Arts and Math
  • Demonstration of satisfactory attendance, citizenship and discipline
  • Personal laptop (See page 10 of application for requirements. )

    Admissions Process Overview

    1. Fill out application

    2. If the candidate is not a current BOUSD student, he/she will need to include a copy of his/her school transcript, attendance records, and any standardized test scores with the completed application.

    3. Letter of support from parent/guardian * The letter needs to demonstrate your commitment to ensuring your child's successful particpation in the Global IT Academy. (1-2 paragraphs)

    4. Mini-Project: See part 5 of Application

    5. The complete application package (except the mini-project which the candidate brings on a flash drive to his/her interview) must be received no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, January 28, 2011.**

    6. Interview Instructions: If you are selected for interview, you will receive an email with your interview information including time and date. Interviews will be held on February 4th and 5th at Brea Junior High School. Remember to dress for success, be punctual, and bring your mini-project on a flash drive. Be prepared to answer follow-up questions from your application essay as well as some general questions about you. The interview is not the sole determining factor for acceptance. The interviewee is judged on their overall merits.

    7. GITA acceptance or denial notification letters will be mailed no later than February 25, 2011.
